The above is a photo of our katzbalger model series of hilts. This design was popular with the German Landsknechts of the 16th Century. Our hilt has a long cross guard twisted and bent to form a closed horizontal S shape, when viewed with the sword held point down. We manufacture these in several variations. The example on the left is the standard hilt. In the middle is the same hilt with an added perforated plate for extra hand protection. The added plate costs an additional $10. The example on the right has a slightly smaller plate with a false ricasso allowing one finger to be hooked over the guard for better point control. The added plate and false ricasso cost an additional $15. The katzbalger hilt may also be mounted on a dagger blade. For blade specifications, follow the Dagger Blades & Hilts link.
